Founded by Larry Haferman, our business started humbly, selling just one or two units a month. Today, we’ve grown substantially and we’re proud that many of our original customers are still loyal to our company. In fact, most of our leads still come from referrals, a testament to our unwavering commitment to customer care and service.
The Haferman Story: A legacy of excellence in water treatment
In 1966, Larry Haferman began his career in water conditioning with Lindsay Water Conditioning in downtown Prior Lake, Minnesota. It was an unconventional start. After answering a blind ad for a door-to-door salesman, Larry was handed a water test kit and told to sell systems.
His dedication and talent quickly propelled him to become the top salesperson, earning him a spot in the prestigious Lindsay President’s Club for six consecutive years, recognizing him as the number one salesperson in the United States.
By the early 1970s, Larry and wife Gerrie decided to strike out on their own, opening Lindsay Water Conditioning Suburban South, Inc. While they initially operated as a Lindsay dealership, they soon discovered Kinetico, a rising star in the water filtration industry.
Impressed by Kinetico’s non-electric, high-quality products and shared values, they formed a partnership with the company, rebranding as Haferman Water Conditioning, Inc. As an independent, authorized Kinetico dealer, the Hafermans’ decision paid off. Kinetico has since become a globally recognized leader in water treatment. And we’ve consistently ranked among the top 15 out of hundreds of Kinetico dealers.
Kinetico’s innovative design, which includes the only non-electric water softener on the market and a unique twin-tank system, helped Haferman Water Conditioning stand out in the industry. Kinetico’s commitment to quality and efficiency means you use less salt and enjoy an unlimited supply of softened water, features that set Kinetico apart from the competition.
After years of renting, Larry took another major step in 2003 by purchasing the historic Burnsville Post Office to house our growing business, marking another milestone in the company’s impressive legacy.
