Benefits of A Reverse Osmosis System

reverse osmosis system

There are many ways to filter your drinking water, and one of the most popular ways is with a reverse osmosis system.

How Does it Work?

Reverse osmosis is a water filtration process in which water pressure pushes tap water through a membrane to remove impurities. There are many reverse osmosis systems out there but the Kinetico K5 Water Station is a state-of-the-art system, designed to solve even the toughest water quality challenges. The K5 has three stages, with each stage becoming more thorough. Stage 1, which is the prefilter stage, prepares the water for the reverse osmosis process. During Stage 1, the five-micron filter captures particles such as dust and silt and reduces chlorine. In Stage 2, the water travels through the reverse osmosis membrane where the primary cleaning will be accomplished. During this stage, the water is forced through a semipermeable membrane, where most minerals, chemicals, and other contaminants are removed. In the last stage, Stage 3, the water goes through a post-filter where any remaining inorganic compounds causing odor or bad taste will be removed. After the 3 set stages, there are 2 additional auxiliary filter options for an added layer of protection. These two additional filters are determined by your specific water needs. The options include an arsenic guard, bacteria and virus guard, or mineral plus filter, it all depends on your specific water needs.

What Are the Benefits?

1. Contaminant Reduction

Contaminants in water are increasingly becoming a problem around the United States, making the need for a water filtration system a priority. A reverse osmosis system is primarily used to remove impurities in the water, including:

  • Sodium
  • Lead
  • Pesticides
  • Chlorine
  • Nitrates
  • Bacteria
  • Arsenic
  • PFAS
  • VOCs
  • Pharmaceuticals

The Kinetico K5 is certified to remove more contaminants than any other RO system. Contaminants can cause harm to your health and make the water smell and taste bad. By using a reverse osmosis system, you won’t have to worry about the quality of your water anymore!

2. Replaces Bottled Water

Bottled water may seem like a better option to tap water, but bottled water is not always contaminant free. Some bottled water has gone through minimal or no processing, while others might have gone through the same filtration process of reverse osmosis. By having your own reverse osmosis system, you can stop running to the store for bottles and create better quality water at home. Plus, you will become more eco-friendly by limiting plastic use.

3. Maintenance is Easy

Is the stress of maintaining a water filtration system keeping you from installing one at your home or business? Luckily, reverse osmosis systems are easy to maintain by only requiring a filter change approximately every 10-12 months. You can choose to change the filters yourself or have a professional water company do it. Haferman Water Conditioning Inc., offers maintenance plans, making it even easier to maintain.

4. Better Tasting Water

By removing impurities, water is going to taste better. Minerals influence a water’s natural taste, and a reverse osmosis system will produce water that just tastes like water. Cooking with freshly filtered water also will result in better tasting food.
