Haferman Water

What is the difference between a water softener and a water filter?

A water softener removes hardness minerals like calcium and magnesium that cause scale buildup, spots, and soap scum — improving cleaning and protecting your plumbing and appliances. A water filter removes or reduces contaminants such as chlorine, lead, sediment, and other impurities to improve the safety and taste of your drinking water. Many homes benefit from having both, so you get soft water throughout the house and clean, great-tasting water at the tap.  Watch our video on Drinking Water vs Soft Water to get more details.
