What filters do I need?

The type of filters you require depends on your household’s water supply. This information is located on the inside of the panel of the drinking water system (K5 models only), or on your maintenance sticker provided by our service team. Although you can change the filters yourself, we recommend that you contact us for assistance. We can determine the exact filters your system requires. We can even come out and change the filters for you, sanitize the system, and check your water to ensure your system is functioning properly. If you choose to install the new filters yourself, carefully follow

Is soft water okay to drink?

Yes, soft water is okay for drinking and cooking. Since your softener regenerates with sodium chloride (salt), keep in mind that there will be a small amount of sodium added to the softened water. People who are on a sodium-restricted diet should consider the added sodium as part of their overall intake. For the highest quality drinking water possible, a Kinetico Drinking Water System® will reduce the total dissolved solids, including sodium, from your water by as much as 98 percent.

If I have a water softener, do I need a drinking water system too?

Yes, your water softener improves the working water throughout your home. This is the water used for bathing, cleaning and laundry. Softeners are not designed to improve drinking water quality. Drinking water systems improve the water that you use to drink and cook with by significantly reducing objectionable taste, odor and contaminants that are commonly found in city and well water.

Why is water leaking from the hole on my faucet?

You have an air-gap faucet that was installed due to the specific plumbing codes in your area. When water starts seeping out of the hole, the drain line is plugged. Don’t worry, this isn’t a malfunction. The faucet is functioning normally, and the drain line must be cleared to stop the leak.

Why am I not getting drinking water?

First, make sure the valves on the lines are turned on. The handles should be in line with the tubing. A reduced flow can also mean your filters need to be replaced. On K5® systems with a Puremometer®, a low indicator signals it’s time for a filter change. Kinetico® filters typically last for about 500 gallons, which is around nine months to one year for a family of four with average use. Kinetico® recommends annual cartridge replacements, even if your system hasn’t shut off, to help maintain water quality and avoid fouling of filters. If you’ve checked the valves and

What’s the noise I hear from my drinking water system?

A drinking water system can make noise when it’s producing water and refilling the storage tank. In some cases, the tubing under the sink may be long to allow for servicing the unit, and it can tap against a pipe or wall as water flows. Securing the line can often reduce or stop the noise. If the sound seems unusual or you’re concerned, contact our team to check the system and ensure everything is working as it should.

Why is my drinking water faucet making noise?

If your faucet has an air gap, the sound you hear is completely normal. Air-gap faucets are required by plumbing codes in many areas, and the noise is simply part of how they operate. Another common cause happens when your drinking water system is installed under the sink. If you hear a gurgling sound, it’s usually the system discharging rejected water down the drain while it’s producing purified water. This noise should only occur right after you use the system and will stop once the storage tank is refilled.
